A Salon, Not a Newsstand
Writers worth
your time.
A publishing platform in the tradition of Black women’s literary salons. Hosted, curated, intentional.
Be here when the doors open
“
When Black women hold space for voices to gather, something changes.
The founding idea
We are not a newsstand. We are a salon.
i.
Voice over reach
We care more about what a writer is saying than how many people they can reach. Follower counts are not a proxy for insight.
ii.
Craft over churn
We’d rather publish one essay that’s worth rereading than ten that aren’t. The pace is the point.
iii.
Intention over algorithm
Nothing here is served to you by a machine trying to guess what you’ll tolerate. What you see is what someone chose to show you.
iv.
Safety over neutrality
A platform that tries to be neutral about whose voices get protected ends up protecting the loudest ones. We don’t pretend to be neutral.
